What a treat to have dear friends from college that still get together every Memorial Day!
This year we headed to Ennis, TX - about 45 minutes outside of Dallas. Car #2 pulled in around dusk...
And we were greeted by hostesses who did hundreds of sweet little touches - thank you Brooke and Andrea!
LOVE the cup upgrade....we've gone from nothing, to styrofoam, to these beauties...
Take out southern fried chicken and biscuits with honey...YUM!
Our only scheduled event of the weekend...outside the house...was the annual parade down Main Street. We were invited to Harriet's home - the town socialite who lives right on Main and hosts a HUGE party every year.
Harriett is the best!
There was a full spread of klotchkees (I'm sure the spelling is wrong...but delicious Czech donuts) and sausage....with a full spread of compliments.
Brooke's dad brought her oldest son by to enjoy the festivities.
We enjoyed the rest of the day relaxing at the homestead.
And then the rains came...
...not a problem, we've got Mexican Train!
The girls through me my first bridal shower....so fun!
But it was also the night of a Blackhawks playoff game...so we watched on mute, except for Hawks goals and the anthem of course.
Tomahawk toss!
YES!
Nothing quite as wonderful as an outdoor shower!
Brooke's wonderful husband brought us some amazing brisket and ribs on our last night...so great to see him!
Outdoor games
A random country dog followed us home from our run.
There was A LOT of rain....this was just a field in front of the farm (which you can see in the background). Now it is a lake.
Thankfully the flooded road cleared up by the next day when we needed to leave.
Hasta pronto Texas!
