Next Stop....Oaxaca

From Puerto Vallarta, I was then off to Oaxaca to visit Jenny & Jannick. What an incredible city - it had a huge colonial downtown area filled with beautiful churches, town squares, street vendors, etc.
There were lots of inner patios/gardens and many of them were open to the public...such hidden treasures!
On the best inner gardens was in the hotel Camino Real, which was an old convent. One of the bellboys took us on a tour of the grounds...my favorite was the area where the nuns used to wash their clothes.Stay tuned...lots more to come on adventures in Oaxaca!!

Felicitaciones Stephanie y Jason!

Last week I headed south of the border to celebrate with Stephanie and Jason as they got married in Puerto Vallarta - gorgeous wedding, gorgeous setting, and gorgeous couple!

After lots of fun preparations - like the Engagement Shower and Bachelorette Party - the big weekend was finally here! I flew down on Friday, Daron (who had already been in PV for 4 days) picked me up, and we were off to Dreams Resort where the wedding was being held.
After getting settled - the first event was freeing the baby sea turtles. Turtles lay their eggs in the same place where they were born, and for some reason there are lots in Puerto Vallarta's Banderas Bay.
We each held a little guy and then on the count of three put him down in the sand and they were off on a 4 day journey to a "nearby" reef.
After dinner we were treated to a private bonfire on the beach - so fun (despite the horrible picture)!
Saturday - after sleeping in and a great work out - I headed up to the penthouse to meet the bridal party for manicures/pedicures!
Perfect day for a beach wedding!
Meredith was an amazing maid of honor - so great to see her since she had moved back to Minnesota in August.
Travel partners extraordinaire!
Dancing with the beautiful bride!
Fantastic table decor/guest gifts - maracas!!!
With Mrs. Lockwood :-)
Congratulations Jason and Stephanie - can't wait for the local reception in October!!!

Vancouver

To celebrate Kelly's new job (way to go Kel!), Mom and I joined her on a trip to Vancouver! While it was a work/play trip for me, it was pure play for Kelly and Mom so they took in many of the sights by day and then met up with me for dinner.

Morning runs in the gorgeous Stanley Park were a great way to start the day!Kelly and Mom went to Grouse Mountain one day and while there are gondolas up to the top (which I did when Leslie and I were in Vancouver), Kelly was hardcore and did the Grouse Grind. She is a rockstar - 2km straight up - said it was the hardest thing she has ever done, but the view at the top was worth it!
We went to an amazing seafood place in Yaletown -Passing by the Olympic Torch on our walk home.
One of Kel and Mom's favorite waiters from earlier in the trip said we HAD to go to a place call Go Fish for the best fish sandwiches and fish&chips we have ever had. He was right!
The place was literally just a shack across from Granville Island...but people were lining up for the fresh halibut, salmon, and tuna.
Great view of the harbor and mountains from our hotel balcony (as the MOL office is right next door, this was also my view during the day!).We couldn't spend almost a week in Vancouver and not get out in the water and explore via kayak.
It was gorgeous paddling around the harbor and we even saw some seals!
We ended the trip at Guu which specialized in traditional Japanese tapas. The food was great and the ambiance made me feel like I was back in Japan - crowded, busy, lots of yelling of orders and greetings - good times!

Summer @ the Lake

Even though September is one of my favorite months, it also marks a sad time - the end of another summer at Lake Geneva. This was another great one....
Colbalt Party in Buttons Bay -
Plenty of boat rides...
Water skiing whenever the lake was calm enough....
Hanging out on the pier....
Playing Kubb in the park....
Yep - summer of 2010 was a great one!

Happy Birthday Rachel and Melissa!

My dear friends Rachel and Melissa share the same birthday - Sept 1 - so Megan and I joined them for a delicious outdoor dinner at Basil Leaf Cafe. Unfortunately the only picture to commemorate the dinner was Megs and I comparing out matching wallets.
Then....if you know Rachel at all....you will know that we headed to Molly's for cupcakes - delicious!
Rachel is a bit of a celebrity at Molly's. They have games for patrons to play while enjoying cupcakes and coffee, well, Rach has her own Jenga set that they keep behind the counter....long story. The owner LOVES Rachel (hard not to!) so he joined us for a little bit of the wonderful evening.
Happy Birthday ladies!!

Bob's Annual Corn Roast

Every year my dad hosts a Corn Roast down at the park. About a hundred corn are roasted on multiple grills, and then brought down to the park via the red truck.
The Taylors made a "flossing station" this year - so cute!
Bob and his right hand man Dan.
Everyone was loving the corn...there is seriously nothing like fresh Wisconsin corn - YUM!

Patio Brunch

Mmmm...you gotta love starting the day with a run along the lake and trip to the Lincoln Park Farmer's Marker. Kel came over with produce as well and we made a delicious patio brunch!
Here's to many more while this fabulous weather continues :-)
